How to prepare for a lifestyle shoot in your own home

Finished doing up your house….or even just part of your house and not sure how to celebrate it?

Then that’s where a lifestyle shoot comes in, it doesn’t really matter how old your little ones are. The natural lifestyle photoshoot will adjust to their current stage and will work beautifully in showing all the hardworking you’ve put into your house renovations as well as your little family enjoying the space you’ve created.

It’s even more of a snapshot in time that is so special and unique to you as a family and the space you’ve created to just be a family. We all love our homes so much but with our busy lives it’s hard to be able to showcase it to its full potential.

With preparing for a lifestyle shoot, planning is key. Everyone wants to be relaxed and you don’t want to feel like your home isn’t looking it’s best. If you have a cleaner then have them in the day before, then all you need to do is the tidy and final set of the rooms you’d like to use.

I recommend 3 different spaces within a family lifestyle session, these can be your favourite spaces. Then when I arrive on the day I’ll help to guide you into the best positions to showcase everyone/everything. Styling wise….now this is also key!!

You don’t need to be too polished, a relaxed outfit is prefect as it goes with the relaxed family home vibe we’ll be going for. We can chat through this in absolutes detail before, this also helps to ease the stress in the build up to shoot day.

Depending on the age of the children, I’ll pretty much always advise going for a morning shoot. Even as early as 8am, the light is beautiful at the time, we don’t need to avoid areas with too much sunlight and kids are generally in their best mood.

As always ask away if you have any questions, all my shoots are a collaboration between us all and representing you authentically is key!!
