Frequently Asked Questions

Regarding photoshoots

Studio location

My stunning luxury studio opened in August 2024, it’s based in central Ross on Wye (HR9 5BU). With plenty of space for the whole family to relax in and stunning high ceilings. The studio is designed to look like an upmarket apartment.

It’s a real home-from-home because when you sit back and relax, the children follow.

Usually, they’re playing with toys on the floor with a few minutes! Which makes everything work beautifully for your shoot.

Once you’re fully booked in, I’ll send detailed instructions of how to find it, best places to park as well as tips on where you may like to grab some lunch after your shoot.

I also offer outdoor shoots from April – September, we can chat through your favourite location or I can organise a private farm in Ross-on-Wye that works beautifully. For lifestyle shoots these can be taken in your own home or grounds and can work beautifully if you’ve just finished off a stunning renovation project. These are my more bespoke packages so I can tailor make it to exactly what you maybe after.

Studio props

My style of photography is very natural, I love to showcase a family without too many distractions so my blankets, outfits and simple headbands are beautiful and delicate.

I absolutely adore bringing personal elements into a session, so please bring along a favourite toy or teddy and we can utilise them for a few precious photos. Hand-made knitted items are always a highlight within a session and family members love seeing them used. So definitely think about these items and have them to hand on the day!

How do I book?

All you need to do is get in touch! Best place is to get in touch directly on my website, the more information you can give in your initial message the better, preferably your due date if pregnant and when you are around 32 weeks if you are keen to book a maternity photoshoot.

I will then pop over my full package options with lots more information on how they all work.

As soon as you are happy with your chosen package I will email over full booking details, your slot is secured with a £50 deposit. Balance is then due on the day of our shoot. I accept BACS and there’s also the option to pay by Credit card.

When will I see my photos?

Within just 72 hours of your shoot, you’ll have access to a secure online gallery for 3 days (or longer if you need it – I know life can get hectic!). You can then make your decisions on your final photos in the comfort of your own home – your partner or family members can also have their own log in, to select their favourite shots. These images are all protected with a copyright logo and if you want to view the images without a copyright logo, we can arrange a time for me to visit personally (I am unable to remove the copyright logo from the viewing gallery)

Can we bring our dog along?

Absolutely yes! I’m sure you’ve seen images on my website including fur babies and they are absolutely welcome at the studio for any of my sessions.

Digital files

Within each of my packages are a certain number of digital files, once you have selected your favourite images and placed your order. I will then work on your photos with more fine tuning airbrushing.

When they’re ready they will be sent over to you as high-resolution digital files.

Gift vouchers

Gift Vouchers are available on all photo shoot packages. It’s completely flexible – you can put any figure on a voucher, your recipient can then put it towards a package of their choice.

I also put together a beautiful gift pack at no extra cost to make your gift extra special.

What should I wear?

This is one of my most asked questions and honestly simple outfits work best, especially in terms of family shots and not too many patterns! If in doubt, have some options ready and we can see what works well in each shot on the day.

Once you’re fully booked in, I’ll email over a full style guide which is really helpful to visualise the particular aesthetic you maybe after.

I also have a great Mummy wardrobe that you can borrow any pieces from, after you’re booked in you’ll be sent a direct link of all the options. Plus there’s lots of children’s items as well.

Airbrushing

Most mummies (& some daddies) breathe a sigh of relief at the mention of airbrushing. I know how I felt in the early days with a newborn baby…tired!

I complete subtle skin smoothing for parents and can also adjust hair etc if there’s a rogue bit out of place, especially if you’ve been throwing the kids around!

With children, it’s mainly getting rid of the odd bit of dribble here, runny noses, dry skin or bumps and bruises – so nothing major.

A minimal amount gets done before you view the photos, the rest then gets completed on your final favourite images.

If you have any specific requests at all, simply describe what you’d like and I can get that done for you, this can include tattoo removal etc.

Make up

When it comes to having photos taken I know we all feel abit more life like when we’ve had the chance to put on abit of make up. I would suggest going abit stronger that you may normally wear, especially with those long nights with a newborn.

Mainly I find new mums struggle with dry lips so make sure to bring along some nice lip balm, you don’t need to go for a strong lip colour unless it’s your usual style.

Don’t panic if this goes against your usual make up – as it won’t look as strong in the final photos! Definition around your eyes is ideal and a little foundation/powder with some lip gloss works brilliantly.

We can also chat through this when we get you all booked in during your pre-shoot consultation!

Privacy

Client photographs are ONLY used on the website or social media once written consent is received. Once purchases are made, your images are deleted approximately one month after the shoot takes place. We would therefore strongly advise you download your photographs as soon as they have been activated in the download link.

Prints, albums and frames

Although the packages do not currently include any prints, albums or frames, I do offer luxury artwork options. These can be purchased any time after your shoot as you will have the digital files.

Frequently Asked Questions

About your Photography Packages photoshoot

When do you recommend having a maternity shoot

I recommend having your maternity shoots around 32-34 weeks, this allows you to have a lovely shape bump and not feel too close to your due date that baby could arrive early and we miss our chance!

When do you recommend booking a shoot?

I recommend booking in anytime after you 20 week scan. My diary gets booked up months in advance so I would hate for you to miss out on a slot! If you need a Saturday, these are very limited so require advanced booking.

What if I don't know how to pose?

I never expect anyone to know exactly how to pose during any of my sessions, I know exactly how to flatter figures and to make the most of your changing shape.

I’ll tell you exactly what to do, plus natural small movements will be guided into. I know it can feel silly but you can always try some poses in the mirror to help with natural movements, whether that’s running your hand through your hair or moving hand slowly around your beautiful baby bump.

Can my partner/older child be involved?

Yes absolutely and I also have lots of mums-to-be who come along on their own. Don’t feel you need to bring anyone along if you don’t want to!

How many outfits should I wear?

For my hour long maternity shoots I would recommend around 3/4 outfits. My studio wardrobe is full to the brim with stunning pieces and styling a maternity shoot is one of my absolute favourites!!

After you’re booked in we can chat more about the specific pieces that you like and we can also go over everything in more detail when you arrive and we are able to see what’s working best during the shoot. We can also get more ideas at this point too!! I love how a maternity shoot can evolve!

Can I do a maternity shoot outdoors?

Yes absolutely, I only take on maternity shoots from April – September and golden hour is ideal so these tend to be booked in on a weekday around 6pm depending on the exact time of year.

How should I style my hair and makeup?

I generally advise going for hair loose in natural curls, but if you have a signature style that you prefer by all means go with that!

When it comes to having photos taken I know we all feel abit more life like when we’ve had the chance to put on abit of make up. I would suggest going abit stronger that you may normally wear, especially with those hard nights trying to sleep when constantly needing to go to the toilet!

Can I have some photos in lingerie or nude?

Yes absolutely! With my background in boudoir photography I adore styling lingerie and nude portraits. I also have lots of pieces of fabric that work beautifully for these types of images.
